Lorian Bartle is a classically-trained guitarist and music instructor. After moving to Wheat Ridge, Colorado she decided to start her own business. She began private instruction in guitar, music theory, keyboard theory and performing as a freelance guitarist. Later starting, The Lorian Bartle Strings Teaching Studio offering a well-rounded approach to music instruction for students ages 5 to adult.
Her students perform regularly in Foothills Music Teacher Association recitals and community events. Ms. Bartle has taught ear training courses at Florida State University and elementary music in the Denver area. She founded a strings program at a Denver-area charter school which grew to encompass 55 students.
She began playing the violin at age 7, but switched to learning classical guitar in high school. She obtained both a bachelor’s and master’s music degree and has taught music since 1998, first as a university music theory teaching assistant, then as a K-12 music teacher. In recent years, Ms. Bartle received extensive post-graduate private guitar instruction from Ricardo Iznaola and private voice training with Katrina Twitty and Kevin Kennedy.
Bartle’s repertoire includes classical, traditional and popular favorites. She’s performed at the 30th Annual Financial Management Summit, Applewood Business Association meeting and the Golden Pond Retirement Community as well as special events including weddings, cocktail hours and holiday parties.
She believes that music can play a particularly powerful role in individuals afflicted with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Musical memories remain firmly entrenched in the brain and can trigger positive associations with earlier life experiences. Ms. Bartle hopes to expand her musical performances to other populations that face similar challenges.
